The Mural

The mural

It brings me great sadness as I reminiscence
As an artist, I never imagined I'd be part of this madness
I just left a funeral, now I'm painting a mural for a fallen friend of mine
For me it’s hard when I realize this young star created by God will no longer shine
A young mother of two on her way home alone tried to live her life to the fullest
All the dreams she followed, now she won’t see tomorrow because of a few stray bullets
In the wrong place at the wrong time is the line that comes to mind
My soul is aching my heart is breaking for the children she left behind
Young boys left to grow to be men without the possibility of having mom as a friend
Children can’t comprehend, as a grown man I don’t understand why her life had to end
So with each stroke of my brush tears inside I cry for a person who was close to me
I ask God why he chose me; no answer, perhaps this is the way it is suppose to be
As I pick up a can of paint that sprays, I again wonder why young life had to end this way
One of God’s singing angels silenced by the violence that took place yesterday
With her blood the sidewalk is tainted, people gather to talk as the mural was painted
Tears flowed on a familiar face that obviously didn’t know; the person later fainted
Respects were paid in the form of flowers laid means plenty people will miss her
I’m sure they’ll never be none more than me; my soul is empty without my older sister.

Stop The Violence

STOP!!!   THE VIOLENCE

I’ve been anointed and appointed to speak the spoken word
Though I may sound absurd my, words shall be heard
As I speak, your knees get weak as I interrupt the silence
With a blessing in the form of a lesson called stop the violence
So as I preach to each, it’s your soul I’ll reach
Creating hope to help cope as I proceed to teach
So pay close attention to what I mention from now on
Because what I’ll say just may save your child when it is born
So take heed as I lead with the words I write
Creating a land where every man can begin to unite
Putting an end to violenceL for all violence should be through
See any damage I inflict on you, it afflicts me too
So if I hurt someone else, I to hurt myself, get it?
Violence will end if only we comprehend, life is a gift, respect it

Imagine

Imagine

Can you imagine a society where everyone helped each other?
Can you imagine a society where everyone loved his or her mother?
Can you imagine how it would be if there were no such thing as hate?
Can you imagine waking up every morning and feeling just great?
Can you imagine a society without prejudice in any shape or form?
Can you imagine how it would be if in the winter every child were warm?
Can you imagine how many lives would be saved if there were no war?
Can you imagine getting everything you wanted and never asking for more?
Can you imagine a society where crimes are never committed?
Can you imagine a society were to drugs no one were addicted?
Can you imagine how nice it would be if there were a cure for all disease?
Can you imagine a society where everyone said please?
Can you imagine how it would be if everyone were respected?
Can you imagine a world where no one felt neglected?
Can you imagine the possibilities if every child attended college?
Can you imagine how smart we’d all be if we all shared knowledge?
Can you imagine how it would be if every little girl won a beauty pageant?
Can you imagine if one day for these things we wont have to imagine?

Make A Difference

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

I’m going to make a difference, like it or not
A change may sound strange but I wont be stopped
I’ll be a positive influence to anyone I speak to
It maybe him or her or it just maybe you
Yes, a thought provoking poem is what I intend to share
It’s rare someone cares but if it’s positive I’m there
To make this a better place in which we all live
If guidance is needed, then I’ve got it to give
I may reveal an experience to increase your intelligence
The words may be intense yet they will all make sense
So take a look through the book and I’m sure you’ll find
A reason to make a difference, cause I found mine
Stop wishing, just listen to the voice in your heart
Cause it all comes from within when you make that fresh start.

A Blank Page Comes To Life

A Blank Page

I love to make a blank page come to life
Creating hope to help cope with the words I write
Words that uplift the spirit in those that hear it, respect it
If you read me as being pessimistic, then you must be dyslexic
My glass is half full though to some it is half empty
If being optimistic is energy, then believe me I have plenty
I appreciate the positive things and accept the challenges of the negative
I will not fail, yes I will prevail for as long as I shall live.

Knowledge Is A Gift

KNOWLEDGE IS A GIFT

Live and learn and you’ll live much longer
Knowledge is key; with it you grow stronger
So keep your eyes open and try to be
The one who learns the most; not like me
I am an individual just like you
If you think it through, you’ll agree with me too
Just be all you can; not what you think I am
For I am just a man and for you I’ve got no plan
You see I am trying to acquire, just as you should
The knowledge of others so I can be all I could
So when adversity arises and God knows it will
In the strongest of tornadoes, I can stand still
I’ve taken all past doubts and put them on a shelf
I exude confidence from within, yes I believe in myself
Some say the sky is the limit; well the sky has no limit
This game called life, I say we can all win it
We should all live and learn and learn together to live
For knowledge is a gift---Blessed is to give.
